‘This Raging Light’- Review

This is a somewhat interesting and unique contemporary book about a girl who’s left without parents after her Father goes mad and her Mother left town, leaving seventeen year-old Lucille to look after her nine year-old brother all by herself. A girl with so much on her hands already clearly doesn’t need any more stress in her life but that’s all she gets when she ends up falling in love with her best friend’s brother. Because of this she ends up feeling even more confused and vulnerable than before. This book follows Lucille’s messy life and how she deals with everything that comes her way.

It really is good book but I hate that it had an unresolved ending so I found myself not feeling content by finishing the book. It is also quite slow-paced which makes me give it 3 stars out of 5 because it is a very well written contemporary book about life and romance but it took long for events to unfold and I actually found it to be very predictable.

Nonetheless I really would recommend it to those who are looking for a new contemporary read.
